Forest floor at Marble Pines

Land repair, water care and habitat

Conservation

Conservation at Marble Pines is practical land repair: healthier pasture, better groundcover, native grassy woodland restoration, water-sensitive management and habitat protection inside the Sydney Water Catchment.

Restoration plan

Repairing pasture while protecting the quiet character of the place.

The pasture has been degraded by historic grazing pressure and Sifton bush infestation. The rehabilitation plan combines mechanical control, careful grazing, improved groundcover, native grasses and targeted tree planting.

  • Yellow Box, White Box and Blakely's Red Gum.
  • Kangaroo Grass and Wallaby Grass groundcover.
  • Hickory Wattle understorey and remnant Ribbon Gum protection.
